Most problems clear up on the first retry. Here’s what to do if something doesn’t, and how to get the recording out of Shoulder if you need it elsewhere.

Recording something

  1. Tap Share Screen with Shoulder, then Continue.
  2. iOS asks what to share — pick Shoulder, then Start Broadcast.
  3. Do whatever you want Shoulder to help with. It’s watching your screen while this runs, not Shoulder itself — you can leave the app.
  4. Stop the recording from the red pill at the top of your screen, or from Control Center.
  5. Back in Shoulder, pick a project and tell it what you were doing. It analyzes the recording and replies in the thread — usually within 30 seconds.

No screen recording handy? Tap + in a project and choose Attach Photo instead — it runs the same analysis on an image.

If analysis fails or the answer looks wrong

Try again once — most failures are a brief hiccup on our end. If it keeps failing, or the answer clearly doesn’t match what you recorded, open Settings → Debug log and tap Copy, then send it to us at the address below along with what you were expecting.

Getting a recording’s transcript

Open a thread, tap ⋯ in the top right, and choose Export transcript to share the conversation and any notes as a text file. Shoulder doesn’t currently offer a way to export the raw video itself — it stays in the app.
